HGH

Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is a master hormone produced by the pituitary gland that sends messages to many other glands and tissues. HGH production peaks around early 20's and diminishes after that each year. Adults with HGH Deficiency (GHD) have increased fat and decreased muscle mass, high cholesterol levels, reduced muscle strength, and decreased bone density. They also complain of decreased exercise capacity, fatigue, poor concentration, memory loss, decreased skin elasticity, depressed mood, and increased abdominal fat.

HGH is approved by the FDA for the treatment of GHD. This approval is based on many scientific studies that demonstrate decreased total body fat, decreased abdominal fat, increased muscle mass, improved cholesterol profile, and decreased osteoporosis with hGH replacement therapy.

Patients combining hGH replacement with a healthy lifestyle can expect:

  •  skin thickness & elasticity &  sun damage wrinkling
  •  lean muscle mass &  total body fat
  •  exercise capacity &  recovery and healing time
  •  bone mineral density &  osteoporosis
  •  cholesterol profile with  LDL (bad) cholesterol &  HDL (good) cholesterol
  •  blood to the kidney
  •  general energy levels
  •  mood, coping skills, and over-all well-being

It is important to realize that there is a lot of misinformation out there concerning hGH. There is no evidence to support the effectiveness of oral hGH sprays or pills. Please see the New England Journal of Medicine article.
